Take Control of Your Wide Format Printer – Awesome Webinar Replay #3
Mutoh Webinar: 5-Days, 1-Hr Each Day, A Lifetime of Learning!
Day 1 – The Three C's of Color Management
How do you set yourself up for success? What variables do you need to account for in color printing to bring your production to the next level and regain control of your printer? Day one covers the influence of printer type, inks, media and maintenance as well as providing a better understanding of ICC profiles and the three C’s of Color Management: Calibration, Characterization and Conversion. This is shop learning not theory!
Day 2 – Monitors, Software and Profiles
There is a technique to consistent and accurate color quality that YOU can do, even before hitting print: Soft Proofing! Day two will focus on assuring your monitor and software are adjusted to show a reliable soft proof of your print. Additionally, we will demonstrate how to setup each of your design tools so you can transfer files seamlessly from one program to another and retain the same color values. We will also look at some methods of examining ICC profiles to determine quality as well as how to make minor adjustments when needed.
Day 3 – Working with Files
“John is telling me I have to design in CMYK, but Jane swears I need to use RGB. What do I do?” Day three is about how to work with various file types and finding the right combinations to give you the best possible prints. How do RIP software handle RGB, CMYK, Pantones and Spot Colors? What is a vector element versus a raster image? Why do some gradients and grayscales have a color cast? How do you create a reliable color swatch for printing?
Day 4 – Setting up a Color Managed Workflow
It’s all about the workflow! Let’s discuss ways to establish a better color management workflow that fits your specific needs. In day four, we will talk about the steps you should take in your own print environment to create a smooth and reliable color printing experience. Your shop will never be the same…it will be better!
Day 5 – Application Day
Put it in to practice! On day five we will create several designs for eco-solvent, dye-sublimation and UV-LED printers, utilizing the knowledge we have gained from the first four days. For each project we will consider the printer type, media, inks and the three C’s, the benefits of soft proofing, working with different file types, and the benefits of a consistent workflow to showcase realistic examples that you can use in your shop: Print & Cut – Eco-Solvent Ink, ADA/braille – UV-LED ink and T-Shirt Design – Dye Sublimation Ink.
